Data Backup and Recovery Solution

Critical Data Backup & Recovery Services

Business Data is the lifeblood of every organization. Secure, reliable data protection is a critical element of a company’s business continuity

and disaster recovery planning. Today’s business owners are challenged

to manage the backup and recovery process while data continues to grow.

Entegration's secure online electronic vaulting service fully automates
offsite backup and retrieval and provides reliable backups and
rapid restorations of data at the file, application and server levels
eliminating media failures and human error.

The Backup Process

Once the system administrator has transferred to the vault a seed file for each server to be protected and scheduled backups for each server, the automated online backup and recovery process begins.

  • Agent scans server for new or changed data.

Every night-when resources and bandwidth are more available--the Agent "wakes up" and scans the server for new data. This block-level scan recognizes new files as well as the modified portions of files that have changed since the previous scan. The scan can include open files, such as database files.

  • Agent creates compressed, encrypted change file.

The Agent assembles only the block-level changes into a single change file, which is then compressed-usually to half its original size-stamped with the date and time, and encrypted for security.

  • Agent sends change file to offsite vault.

The Agent then sends the change file via TCP/IP to a secure offsite vault.

  • Vault Manager catalogs and stores change files.

The Vault Manager receives the change file from each server, catalogs the file based on its date/time stamp, and stores it in the vault.

  • Vault Manager monitors and delivers alerts.

The Vault Manager continuously monitors the progress of scheduled backups. Anytime the Vault Manager detects an irregularity, it immediately sends an exception alert via email to the system administrator.

The Restoration Process

  • System administrator defines data image to be restored.

At any time, the system administrator may choose to recover from the vault files, directories or an entire server's data image. He simply selects the files and directories to be restored, the date and time of the appropriate backup, and the destination for the recovered files.

  • Vault Manager rebuilds data image and prepares it for recovery.

The Vault Manager scans the server's original data image and all subsequent change files, then assembles the data image to be restored.

  • Vault Manager sends recovered files to specified server.

The Vault Manager sends the recovered data image via TCP/IP to the server defined by the system administrator. For larger data images, an EVault representative will save the data image to tape and deliver the tape to the system administrator.

It's that simple and that powerful. Entegration's online backup and recovery solutions with eVault help you to save time, and take control of your data storage.
